11. CPRA ( Your Data Protection Rights under the California Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

4 Advertising Guidelines
These Advertising Guidelines (“Guidelines”) set forth the standards governing the placement and display of advertisements and sponsored content (collectively “Advertising”) by any advertiser, agency, or advertising technology platform (collectively “Advertiser”). We do. Advertisers must follow these guidelines when placing ads, including ads purchased under the AAAA/IAB Standard Terms and Conditions, on Dollar21.com (collectively “Dollar21”), including About, Inc. on websites or mobile properties owned or controlled by
These guidelines are intended to provide general parameters for advertisers with respect to ad creative and content served on Dollar21. They are not exhaustive and do not address every situation or issue that may arise in the course of business. Accordingly, these guidelines are subject to change from time to time in the sole and absolute discretion of Dollar21.
Advertisers are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including FTC guidelines regarding advertising, native advertising disclosure, endorsement, privacy and data protection. All advertising must be fair, truthful and clearly distinguishable from editorial content. Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all advertisements and related claims are adequately substantiated. In addition, advertisers must comply with the Dollar21 Restricted Content Guidelines set forth below and the additional standards, which are incorporated into and form a part of these Guidelines.
Advertisements offered through the Network or Exchanges are reviewed on a regular basis and in addition to any other remedy Dollar21 may have, Balance reserves the right to remove any Advertisement without notice, which Does not meet these guidelines, regardless of whether or not the ad was previously accepted by Dollar21.
Ads may not contain or promote the following:
- Drugs/alcohol/tobacco. Ads may not promote illegal drugs, illegal substances, prescription drug abuse, the use of alcohol (except beer and wine), or tobacco products, or any related content. Legitimate products and services promoting tobacco cessation products are permitted.
- Weapons/Violence. Ads may not promote the use, distribution or manufacture of firearms, ammunition, explosives, pyrotechnics or other weapons. Ads may not promote violence, cruelty, or physical or emotional harm to any person or animal.
- Illegal Activities / Gambling. Ads may not promote any illegal or other questionable activities that may be illegal in one or more jurisdictions, including without limitation hacking, counterfeiting, or other activities that violate intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or others may violate the contractual rights of Ads may not include or promote content relating to scams, financial schemes, pyramid schemes or other fraudulent or illegal financial or investment opportunities. Ads may not promote casinos, gambling, betting, numbers games, sports or financial betting. Ads promoting state lotteries are allowed.
- Hate/intolerance/discrimination. Ads may not promote hate speech, personal attacks, or discrimination against any individual, group, country, or organization.
- Obscenity / indecency / profanity. Ads may not contain or promote any obscene, indecent, profane or offensive words, images, sounds, videos or other material.
- Political/Religious. Ads may not contain hostile, offensive, inflammatory or hate speech relating to political or religious topics or groups. Ads must not exploit controversial political, social, or religious issues for commercial purposes.
- Sexual/Adult Content. Ads may not contain full or partial nudity, depictions of people in explicit positions, or activities that are overly obscene or sexually suggestive. Ads shall not contain text or images depicting anyone or anything engaging in explicit sexual acts or lewd and lascivious behavior. Ads may not promote escort, dating, sexually explicit messages, pornography, or other sexual products or services.
- Insult/Defamation. Ads may not contain libelous or defamatory information or material that damages the reputation of The Balance or any other person, group or organization.
- gross illustration. Ads may not include or promote material that is crude, obscene, offensive or shocking or hateful.
- Terrorists / Extremism. Ads may not include or promote overly aggressive and belligerent behavior or illegal political measures, including individuals or groups advocating violence as a means to achieve their goals .
- sensitive material. Ads may not target sensitive categories such as financial status, medical conditions, mental health, criminal record, political affiliation, age, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical affiliation or belief, sexual behavior or orientation, or trade union membership.
- Free goods/services. Advertisements may not deliver or promise to deliver any free goods and services.
- Targeted at children. Ads may not specifically target children, include cartoons or other similar material.
- unbelievable claims. Advertisements may not make misleading claims that reasonable consumers cannot easily understand and evaluate.
- Before/After Images. Ads may not display “before and after” images or images that have unpredictable or unlikely results.
- Health/safety claims. Ads must not promote activities that harm one’s health, such as bulimia, anorexia, excessive drinking or drug use. Advertisements may not make health claims that have not been clearly verified. Advertisers may be required to submit supporting documentation to substantiate claims for their products.
- Misleading/False/Misleading: Ads may not contain any information or material that is potentially misleading, false or deceptive, including material that is intended to generate deceptive clicks such as fake “close” buttons.
dollar21 /Competitive from partners. Ads may not promote direct competitors of Dollar21 or any of its parent, affiliate, subsidiary or other related entities.
ADDITIONAL STANDARDS
Advertisers and advertisements must adhere to the following:
Phishing. Ads may not trick or trick a user into providing money or any account, personal or other sensitive information.
adaptability. Ads should work equally well on both Apple and PC formats, as well as on all major Internet browsers.
Independence. The ads may or may not affect The Dollar21’s editorial independence from advertisers.
Audio/Animation. Ads may not include overly disruptive audio or animations that play automatically.
popup/download. Ads may not include lead ads, floating layers, pop-ups, surveys or any digital downloads.
malicious software. Ads may not contain malicious code, software or viruses, including malware, spyware, adware, stealware or Trojan horses.
separation. Advertisements must have clear boarders and be displayed so that they are not clearly part of Dollar21’s editorial site content.
help. Advertisements may not constitute or imply the existence of any endorsement by Dollar21 of any product, service or organization.
Landing Page. Landing pages linked to ads must be consistent with the ad call to action and must not involve “bait and switch”.
property rights. Advertisements may not infringe any copyright, trademark, trade-secret, patent, publicity, privacy or other proprietary rights of Dollar21 or any third party. Advertisers may not alter or interfere with the readability or display of any Dollar21 trademark, service mark, logo, design or slogan.
Data Collection/Use. Ads may not include open-box forms to register users or collect any data. Dollar21 Ads may not collect and sell data about users or mailing lists without the express consent of users. Advertisers may not collect any personally identifiable information from Dollar21 users or place any cookies, applets or other similar files – if those files transmit Personally Identifiable Information to advertisers – on a desktop computer or Dollar21 on users’ mobile devices. Advertisers must handle data with reasonable care, must not misuse any data they are permitted to collect, nor collect any data for unclear purposes or without proper safeguards.
